Kundalini Maha Mudras
“An idea is a being incorporeal, which has no subsistence by itself, but gives figure and form unto shapeless matter, and becomes the cause of manifestation.”
A mudra is a sacred gesture or symbol that invokes a particular energy to stimulate the Prana (life force) and move it through the body. Mudras are typically performed with the hands, though they may include asanas (postures) and pranayamas (breathwork).
When performing the hasta (hand) mudras, the nerve endings that connect to the spine and stimulate specific organs and glands (the endocrine system) are activated. The endocrine and nervous systems affect blood purification and the entire body's health.
Mudra work is a simple yet powerful practice that works with the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual bodies through kriyas (repitition) and Drishti (focus).
A Maha Mudra is a gesture used to awaken our inner potential, also known as the Kundalini energy. The Kundalini represents our sexual energy, dormant creative force, and spiritual potential. The Maha Mudras wake up this energy and draw it up the spine, activating the seven chakras and bringing it to our higher chakras, where we connect to the Divine, Love, and total consciousness.
Three Kundalini Maha Mudras:
Sat Kriya: energizes, directs the sexual energy into a creative current, stimulates lower chakras and propels the energy upwards, massages organs, activates Agni (spiritual/digestive fire), cultivates drishti on the innovative capacity and Kundalini force.
Kunchun Mudra nourishes, cleanses, and purifies the body. It bestows intellect and connects the intuitive body. It energizes the heart, invigorates the brain's electromagnetic activity, enhances clarity and compassion, and charges the auric field.
Maha Mudra: grounding, activation of the bandhas (energy locks), energizes and cultivates inner awareness, balances the sexual energies, improves respiration, and increases Prana through the body.
