“How could he speak like this, he who said he knew so many things?”
Stay With The Heart.
Walks on the beach with the sun in our hair, sand on our legs, and his hand wrapped around my waist.
Walks at the pier and a metal rod in his leg from the lid of the groomer.
Saturday evening, he came over in red glasses, a Shasta hat, and dark pants and smelled like onion. He had a backpack and a navy suit on a hanger in a black bag.
He told me he loved me. Over and over: is this crazy? I love you. I hardly know you, and I love you. He gives his heart easily. Who takes it back? He took it with him today. He did not leave his heart with me to take to New York or Europe. I don’t know where it went today. He didn’t keep it for himself. We had Sunday together. We stayed in bed until 2pm. We had sex in so many ways. We got lunch and went for a walk around the marina, and then he got dressed for the wedding with a red belt, a low bun, and a light shirt in his navy suit. I loved him so dearly at that moment. He left late because we made love again. He got undressed and slid into bed with me. I went to the pool and he went to the wedding. I went for a walk in the dark and ate hummus chips and he messaged me and asked if I’d come dance with him. And I did.
