Regeneration

What is the difference between intuition and instinct? This has been my inquiry of the week. How are these two elements of the human condition distinct?

Instinct is what is felt, what arises from within, the sensation of knowing in your guts, your heart speaking. Primal and raw, instinct is a visceral feeling that prompts one to consider and carefully evaluate the situation. Of the body, instinct is an action. It is felt through the body in response to something stimulated via sight, sound, taste, touch, or scent.

Intuition is what is spoken by the soul. The heart's language is a skill and discipline strengthened through use. It is known from the inner space of the spirit, something that has been passed on through the generations. Inherited trhough the cosmos. The Panchamama, the unconscious, the possess mind, whispers of the Divine, an invocation of God/Goddess. It is not to be confused with the intellect. This is not a mind-created story. It is a sonata of the soul.

Intellect is the discerning capability of the mind to analyze and process information. It may use one's experience (theory or practice) to evaluate the messages from instinct (gut reaction) or intuition (soul speak.)

Instinct is something you are born with and must pay attention to via signals from the body.

Intuition is something that you develop through experience in life. It must be acknowledged, and the more you practice, the stronger it becomes.

Instinct is the sensations children are most connected with, and as one matures, this can add to the strengthening and development of one's intuition.

I dreamt of you last night. The ocean was our room. White and spacious and lapping gently at the sand. It was quiet where we sat, except for the birds calling us to the sea. You were wearing a bright windbreaker. You wrapped your arms around me. You felt like warm laundry. Your arms could reach around my waist and across my abdomen. Seated side by side like this, we watched the blue turn black and walked home in the dark.

In my dream, I could not find you. I waited in a smaller room where I could not hear the sea. I kept running in a rectangle, checking every corner. Is he here? Is he there? You were nowhere and somewhere. I sat in the middle of the space and waited. I watched the sun burn until it blossomed red and flashed its last over the grass. The grass was dry. Yellow. The dirt was hard. I put my palms to the earth and cried.

Where are you? I mouthed to the man who appeared. Say hi to him for me. The man laughed at me, shaking his long curls as he rocked back and forth. It was a cruel smile. I left the room and walked with my bare feet on the hard earth. There was no reprieve for me in this dream, and you never showed up.

I woke up to the calling of birds—crystals in the sky. Cats jumping from the rooftops, their nails click-clacking on the stones. My nightgown was wet, and the white sleeves stuck to my sides. My mouth was dry. My feet hung from the edges of the bed. I'd kicked the blanket and pillows to the floor. I stood up and looked outside. Shards of your smile hanging by the moon. I wrapped my arms to my sides and swayed side to side. With my eyes closed, I could see our room. The seaside stretched so far it blurred into the skyline. When I opened my eyes, it was all purple outside, and the cat with the green eyes was perched on my windowsill.

5. Regeneration

Inside the heel: Release what is old to make space for what is to come. Press the inside of each heel with the thumbs. This stimulates the decrease of fear, clinging to the past, suffering what has already occurred, and the inability to let go and move forward. It liberates one of the bondages of living backward.

6. Balance and Discrimination

At the arch of each foot, just beneath the big toe mound, by the bone underneath, this is for stability and flow. Balance and discrimination come through experience and learning to discern what is best at any given moment. It creates the structure for your life, the foundation, like the archway of a building. When pressed, it releases tension in the head, causing headaches, migraines, and mental fatigue.

7. Victory

The underside of the big toe mound to press, this pressure point creates space for victory and liberation. It activates a spiritual cycle, initiating development and attunement to one's inner voice. It clears the mind/brain and is suitable for digestion.

8. Rythm, Strength, Peace

Moving up the leg to the inside of the knees, this point attunes one to the universe's rhythms. It creates strength in body and mind. It helps one develop the tenacity to endure. It is a pressure point for peace as it is used to release tension at the rectum, reproductive organs, and pelvis.
