vita mia

He has edited me out of the photograph.

How easy it is now, to remove someone from the portrait entirely.
editing is carefully selecting what you want others to see.

Photography, poetry, online portals.

Three smudges overlap- the picture has always stuck out
off-center, the lines in the background are disjointed.
like my crooked teeth, what is perfect doesn’t stick

the way a flaw pokes out.

I remember the things that are striking;
Perhaps a little obscene.
We Are All Obscene.
are we?

This editing process is part of his nature.
it is not of mine- I loathe the process of considered selection
the sun is careless with its rays!
the ocean sloppy at managing its tide, aho!

Gardens need to be trimmed if you want a proper path to walk through
or, you can weave through the brambles and get the thorns in a thumb
catch the deep, heady scent of wildflowers in your hair
consume the cacophony of what can never be tamed!

edit and cut and take away what you will-
it does not mean that what was there did not exist
in the first place; though, second place is the majority reside.

we are not all Obscene.
some of us are brave enough to go there-
into the heart of disquiet!

Keep your pretty pictures without me in them.
