Prime Mover

It is customary to sit with your hands on your knees during meditation.

Where do the palms naturally sit? Long spine, subtle tuck of the chin, shoulders relaxed, breath bright, heart lifted, belly soft, arms long, and hands at the knee.

The first energy lock—the Prime Mover—is located inside each knee where the thigh and shin connect.

What are the locks?

Points on the body where energy converges and, thus, may become blocked or exhausted due to imbalances.

How does energy move through the body?

The body's energy descends from the front and flows up the back.

Down is the grounding force that binds us through gravity to the Earth.

Up is the inspirational influence that binds us through grace to the heavens.

It is more challenging to ascend; you must practice strengthening your physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual resolve to rise again and again, no matter how many tricks and obstacles drag you downward!

Safety Energy Lock 1 - The Prime Mover

The prime mover is located inside each knee. This lock is responsible for harmonizing the ongoing flow of energy ascension and descension through the body: up the backside and down the front side.

Why work with the prime mover?

It allows you to navigate the highs and lows, balances your gravity and grace within, and connects you to the Earth and the heavens.

Benefits of working with the prime mover lock:

  • Creates more space for energy to move in organized pathways

  • Eases digestive system - aids in bloating, gastric issues, and abdominal discomfort

  • Allows for deeper breathing.

September Meditation Notes

I am on my purple rug. It’s itchy. My thighs are sticky. It’s hot. I’m uncomfortable. Palms down on the knees, chin slightly tucked, a prayer to the guides: direct me, I’m listening.

My hands are hot and then cold. My spine is straight and then curved. My mind is jittery from the coffee. I want to stand; I must sit. I want to read my book; I must sit. I want to run in the sunshine; I will sit.

I sit until my breath is all there is. I am suffering the sound of rocks tumbling and birds looking for a place to perch. The apartment was torn down. Where will they go? They will adapt. My nails are as purple as the rug. Close your eyes. My feet are itchy. Stop moving. My back hurts. Breathe deeper to settle the sensation.

Quite naturally, I am ashes. Without a trace of effort, I am silent.

Where can I love more?

When do I connect to my power?

How can I expand my perspective?

Mantra of the heart: be still. Words betray their hollowness. The answers cannot be described; they must be felt.

Compassion. Divine Anatomy. Forgiveness.
